For those with interest in the 2024 Tax year, I can confirm that the method used in 2023 works for the 2024 tax year. Download from TurboTax, sub in the "New" dll for activation and move the "Orig" .dll back in to update. Tested using the "20 Returns" edition on 2 PCs.

There are 2 components here. You need the 2024 tax program. It is available from the Turbotax Canada..
In the 2023 thread, you should find a fixed .dll file. This is the key to success.

The initial install of Turbotax should give you an unactivated install. You do not need an account. Do not open this install. The fix is the special dll file. You sub these 2 .dll files as required. Here is what I do.

A When I want to activate I find the original .dll file and rename it to .dllorig. This is just an name change but takes this file out of service but not a location change. The new .dll file can now be installed and will sit right next to the .dllorig file. Now load Turbota.x and it should be activated.
B When you want to update, you must go back to the original .dll file. Now you take fix .dll and give it new name such as .dllnew. Now take the file with name .dllorig and just rename back to .dll. These 2 files should again sort together but 1 file is not in service.

C Just just follow this routine as required. The update option is likely less required. I have the 20 File edition working on 2 PCs and with recent use.

If you feel you are following this routine, get back to me. I have 2 other PCs that I could again test.

Thank you for the instructions. Can you please give the name of the original .dll in the Turbo tax 2024 installed directory.

And if it is only 1 .dll file to change.

Thank you again

We are in luck here. I made a post that the "Fix" file from 2023 also worked in 2024. There is just one .dll file. To update, you have to use the Original file. To activate, you have to use he "Fix" .dll. While this works, there is a better mouse trap.

There is another "Fix" now using another .dll file. This is a one shot fix. You replace one .dll once and that is it. The "fix" is posted by Gordo. I have actually moved my PCs over. Just today, I received an update and entered new data. This fix is about as good as it gets.

What I do is that I go to Drive C and under Under Programs X86 I find the TurboTax 2024 folder. I find the file in question and Rename it so it has an extension of .dllOrig. This removes this file from service but does not change location. I then Copy/Paster in the new file which should find its place right next to original file.

If any question, just get back. You will be most happy with the fix from Gordo.

Ok, we have a plan.

If you have downloaded the Gordo Post called "Turbo Tax (2024) - Patch Files Business + Personal (or close to this name), then you should have everything you need. The key is that .dll file should be there, My thinking is that it is a .Rar file and must be extracted. I started the download again but gave up since it very slow, I recall extracting that "Fix" file. The file in question is called "Intuit.Ctg.Ttd.Platform.Services.dll".

So, pretty sure you have the file on hand. I have a few PCs on hand and I have moved over to this fix. I just restore my first attempt so TurboTax is back to original and I then just sub in the latest .dll file.

If you cannot find this file, I could upload just this file to Rapidgator. The Tax program itself is available directly from TurboTax.

Let me know but pretty sure you have it. Just extract all .Rar files.

Thank you for replying. After extracting rar file it does not show for some reason . The "Intuit.Ctg.Ttd.Platform.Services.dll" file is in the Drive C TurboTax 2024 folder after install. So definetly I am missing the fix.

Ok, Plan B.

There is a change your virus program is flipping it out. In my little world using Norton, I have a Cracks folder that I exclude Norton from. When I download, I extract into my Cracks folder and Norton leaves me alone.

Later today I will try to upload to Rapidgator. I will post back my success but in the meantime, you might double check your virus program.

Cheers,

Sorry for the delay. I got a new Norton that did not like this site - lol. Took a while to turn off Safe Web to allow this site to be accessed.

I was successful in getting a Rapidgator link but I do not think I have the necessary privleges to post on this site.. My post fails.

The file in question is "Intuit.Ctg.Ttd.Platform.Services.dll". If this was me, I would try another download from the Gordo post. I got all files when I did this. Watch you virus and extract all files. I only needed the new .dll fix file. You could also ask Gordo to just post the Personal and Business .dll files. It is a long download when the tax program is available from TurboTax.

Sorry could not put this together. This is a great fix.
